13 May 2019

Councillor Dave WellsAmber Valley has its first Green Party councillor thanks to Duffield voters; together the people of Duffield and the Amber Valley Green Party have elected the first ever Green councillor to the borough council.

Dave Wells was given the overwhelming backing of the village with an amazing 1394 votes – 63 per cent of the overall turnout. At 55 per cent this was the highest turnout in Amber Valley and something of which everyone in Duffield should be very proud.

“I’m proud of the work we put into the campaign. At the same time, I’m sure that growing concern about Green issues like Climate Change, plastic waste and loss of biodiversity played a part. In Amber Valley the threat to our Green Belt embodies this,’ says Dave. ‘Now we have a voice on the council we can start to address these issues.”

He plans to keep you all up-to-date with what’s going on via newsletters, social media and our website, so you should find it easy to stay informed and get in touch.

“Thank you for putting your trust in me. I want to get the parties in the council working together to address important issues like the Green Belt and Climate Change. And I’m looking forward to forming a steering group to take our Plastic-Free Duffield campaign forward.”
